Nathaniel Frey, a favorite actor of George Abbott, in the role of Fiorello's doleful, resigned, pessimistic office manager Morris Cohen. He sings the opening number "On The Side Of The Angels" and "Marie's Law" during the production. Before Fiorello! he played the role of Shirley Booth's husband in A Tree Grows In Brooklyn.
