The show was written by order of General Arnold of the U.S. Army, with all proceeds benefiting the Army Relief Fund of 1943. It told the story of the growth of the Air Force, following six soldiers from civilian life to battlefield flight. Hart traveled 28,000 miles with Air Force men to research the project.
